Yoga is not a work-out it is a work-in, and this is the point of spiritual practice to make us teachable to open up our hearts and focus our awareness so that we can know what we already know and be who we already are.
A steady posture is a prerequisite to Pranayama and Meditation. In the words of Maharishi Patanjali, the author of the Yoga Sutras, asana is supposed to be a ‘steady and comfortable’ posture.
Pranayama is referred to as the regulation of prana which is considered to be the energy of life. Owing to its scientific association with the breath, Pranayama includes varying breathing techniques that ultimately work towards calming the mind.
