Case Study – 1

 

About the child: Client is an eleven-year-old.

Purpose of enrolling for the program: was to increase confidence and deal with bullying.

Issues: Low self- esteem, shyness, increased withdrawal from others and bullying at school.

Methods:

  • Psychodrama based role play to understand the intensity of bullying.
  • Affirmations to help the child develop confidence.
  • Voice exercises accompanied by gestures to improve clarity in voice and body language.
  • A customized “ANTI-BULLYING” toolkit which contains cues in form of pictorial depictions, journals, batches were given to the client to help manage emotions accordingly. In the end of the process, the child was a part of an expressive art theatre play.

Duration: 6 months.

Benefits: Benefits reported by the parents were Increase in confidence, increase in sociability and more improved speech. The child’s fear of bullying reduced. Stage anxiety drastically reduced with participation in the expressive art theatre play.

Case Study – 2

 

About the Client: The Client is a 6-year- old girl.

Issues: She is a shy girl and found it difficult to talk back to her peers. She often struggled to stand up for herself when her peers troubled her, which became a cause of major distress to her.

Methodology: Expressive art and healing stories along with verbal communication techniques.

Duration: The healing story was read out over a period of 15-20 days along positive reaffirmations and expressive arts learning methods.

Measurement: The healing story was based on her self-representation of a Koala bear. Other animals were introduced for therapeutic purposes. Over the period, she developed the good association with the helping metaphor in the story which helped her to develop self-confidence.

Results and Benefits: The client has developed the self-confidence to stand up for herself in multiple situations. Critical incidents of change in behaviors are:

1) The client stood up in class and could articulate her opinions clearly and assertively.

2) The client sits with her soft toys and narrates her healing story to them confidently, with a sense of celebration and music.

Case Study – 3

 

About the child: Client is a 9-year-old with high social skills, all-rounder, achievement-oriented with perfectionist tendencies.

The purpose for enrolling for the program: due to the client’s keen interest in theatre.

Issues: increased sadness from not meeting expectation.

Methods: Expressive art therapy, affirmations, healing story helping her resolve her state of conflict and reduce her anxiety. The client’s healing story was based on the metaphor of “the lioness”, the metaphor helped her to feel powerful and feel proud of her being and not attach it to her achievement.

Duration: 8 months

Benefits: Increased emotional awareness, the feeling of responsibility, altruism attitude, better ability to express emotions.

Case Study – 4

 

About the child: 9-year-old

The purpose for enrolling for the program: To pursue theatre.

Issues: Increased hyperactivity, restlessness, to develop clarity in speech. The client would also develop a sense of attachment towards people and when their absence was felt, she would feel an increase in anxiety. Her openness to new people was low.

Methods: Expressive art therapy, affirmations, healing story, cool down techniques to reduce hyperactivity.

  • Client’s hyperactivity stamped from her feeling of isolation and the feeling of loss when people she felt attached to were not around. Her healing story focused on helping her feel a sense of satisfaction in herself and developing the openness to new beings so that her sociability could increase.

Duration: 8 months

Benefits: Reduced restlessness, increase in participation, high Involvement in theatre. The client appears to be more attentive and social. Through the theatre production, the child bloomed. She was active, prompt and least anxious.

Case Study – 5

 

About the child: the 8-year-old child.

Issues: She used to freeze while speaking in front of public or a stranger, shy, sensitive, low self- confidence.

Methodology: Expressive arts, theatre (Navras), worked on subconscious mind using the affirmation, emotional freedom techniques, new handy techniques like the emotional wastebasket, power pose toolkit, anger refrigerator, speaking slowly, loudly, clearly, soldier walk, nose walk (imagination, voice modulation, gesture). worked on self-representation and body image.

Results and benefits: The child could express herself better than before, gained better confidence at public speaking, good stage performer, developed the habit of speaking slowly loudly and clearly, utilizes her time to play with her peers, has found her true self-expression and blossomed like a flower.

Recommendation: Practice all the theatrical techniques, Foster imagination and creativity, continue practicing the affirmation of Flower Fairy. Label the emotion. Case Study – 6

 

About the child: 8-year-old child.

Issues: she used to feel trapped causing her to restrict her talent.

Methodology: Expressive arts, theatre (Navras), worked on subconscious mind using the affirmation, emotional freedom techniques, new handy techniques like the emotional wastebasket, power pose toolkit, anger refrigerator, speaking slowly, loudly, clearly, soldier walk, nose walk (imagination, voice modulation, gesture). worked on self-representation and body image.

Results and benefits: The child could express herself better than before, through expressive art. She’s opened to reading new books, explored innovative ideas, read about different countries. we helped her to channelize energy. She is a good performer and has excelled the techniques of theatre.

Recommendation: Practice all the theatrical techniques, Foster imagination and creativity, continue practicing the affirmation. Help her to create SMART goals. (SMART stands for Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound). Label the emotion-the moment you identify the emotion you feel better.

Case Study – 7

 

Issues: she was shy and had low self-confidence, was not able to speak up and assert herself.

Methodology: Expressive arts, theatre (Navras), worked on subconscious mind using affirmation, emotional freedom techniques, new handy techniques like the emotional wastebasket, power pose the anger refrigerator, speaking slowly, loudly, clearly, soldier walk, nose walk (imagination, voice modulation, gesture).

Results and benefits: She has developed the self-confidence to stand up for herself and could articulate her opinions clearly and more assertively. She has developed a sense of completion in her work and circle of influence.
